International Internship, Paris-based, SCIB Banking & Corporate Finance, Netherlands & Belgium
The role of an Intern in Banking & Corporate Finance at Santander is both versatile and unique. You will be based in Paris – home to one of the global hubs of Santander – where the junior bankers of the B&CF team operate and support the senior bankers based in Amsterdam. Your core activities are split twofold. One part is focused on building core Corporate Finance skills to be able to support pitching to clients and execution of strategic mandates. The other part is focused on supporting Client Relationship Management activities that help building, sustaining, and monetizing global relationships. You will be acting for Santander’s clients based in the Netherlands & Belgium. Both elements are further explained below.
Corporate Finance – actively support in origination and execution of mandates:
An important part of the role is the day-to-day execution of Corporate Finance and M&A mandates. You will, for instance, help to perform company valuations that require various valuation methods such as discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, merger models, comparables, etc. You will draft company profiles by analysing financial statements, you will assist in the preparation of marketing presentations for both origination (pitchbooks) and execution (information memorandum, management presentations, etc.) and you will also help performing financial and strategic business analyses on sectors, competitors, and customers.
Client Relationship Management – assisting Bankers in their global coverage responsibilities for large clients:
At Santander, we follow a focused and relationship-driven model with a target portfolio of Corporates, Sponsors, and Financial Institutions. As an intern you will support Junior and Senior Bankers in originating and executing Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and Treasury Solutions mandates. In doing so you will help prepare many client meetings, business plans, monitoring performance in terms of client profitability and absolute revenue targets (involved in all internal and external aspects of transactions, e.g., client pitches, credit documentation, risk & business committees). The successful candidate must (i) be eager to work on projects in a large, diverse, and global organization within a challenging and dynamic business environment and (ii) demonstrate intellectual curiosity in delivering a wide scope of solutions ranging from M&A advisory to ECM, DCM, Syndicated Loans, Acquisition Finance, Structured Finance, Working Capital Solutions, FX, etc.

Requirements for the role:
- Preferably experience in Investment Banking (prior internships)
- Advanced undergraduates or graduates from top-tier business/engineering schools, with top tier results
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Proven ability to meet deadlines while paying attention to details
- Entrepreneurial mindset, pro-active and autonomous
- Ability to work in a truly international environment in Paris
- Team player who can interact effectively with all levels of hierarchy and product teams
- Excellent proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and financial modelling
- Languages: Fluent in Dutch and English. Spanish and/or Portuguese are a plus
